Profile

Hometown:
Anchorage-AK, Denver-CO
About Me:
I was originally a member of the hard copy version of SS3F with the Exeter crew. I've been lurking on the outskirts ever since the hard copy version came to an end.

Lived in Anchorage, AK for the past 10 years, recently moved to Colorado.

Will fill this out more completely at a later date.
Favorite Music:
My favorite genre of music would likely be hot late-1920s jazz, the precursor of swing jazz. Next in line of favorite genres of music would be the hot swing jazz of the 1930s and 1940s or modern swing jazz if played hot in that flavor. Other favorite genres include, but is not limited to (because I pretty much like them all): zydeco, electric blues, boogie-woogie, dixieland, Isra'eli Hip-Hop, 1940s jump blues and modern swing jump blues, rockabilly, techno, industrial and alternative.

A few bands/musicians that I enjoy a include (and, again, not limited to and not in any particular order): Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Ella Fitzgerald and Chick Webb, U2, tobyMac, Chris Tomlin, Subliminal, TACT Family, Van Halen, Queen, Björk, ELO, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Bee Gees, the 3 Louies (ie: Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima and Louis Jordan), Cab Calloway, Brian Setzer, Arrested Development, Indigo Swing, Eric Clapton, Sugar Ray, BB King, Fleetwood Mac, Buckwheat Zydeco, Gene Krupa, Def Leppard, Smashing Pumpkins, BBVD, HDH, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Jools Holland, Gorillaz, Fatboy Slim, Bill Elliot, Crash Test Dummies, Beau Jacque, Tori Amos, etc.
Favorite TV Shows:
TiVo is the best thing to happen to television since color. Many cable companies now offer DVRs, but I have not seen one, yet, to ever perform nor be as feature rich as TiVo (not even close). Years ago, before I experienced what TiVo was, I didn't see what the point of getting a TiVo was. I have a friend to thank for correcting me, back in 2004, on my misconception.
A plug for TiVo being done, now on to other thoughts on television.

Many programs I watch are found on the Science, Discovery, Discovery Times, History and the Fox News Channel although I have not been watching FNC since June 2007. When I do watch television, it is mostly programs that would be labeled educational. Of particular interest are programs about the ANE (ancient near east) or related programming.

As far as fiction television there is Star Trek (the original series, Enterprise and The Next Generation). I grew up watching the original Star Trek and am still a big fan.

Of the spin-offs, to me, Enterprise was the only one to really get close to the same kind of feel that the original series had, and this is one reason I prefer it over The Next Generation series.

Another television program I watch is So You Think You Can Dance. It had its third season in 2007 but I think I enjoyed the dancers from the first season the best, so far.

Big fan of Invader Zim. GIR steals the show — completely.

Some old favorite programs that come to mind that I watched when I was little:
M*A*S*H; The Twilight Zone (original); The Little Rascals;
Hogan's Heroes; Gilligan's Island; and the Transformers (original 1980s)

More recent shows I would watch on occassion:
Smallville; Will & Grace; Family Guy; Futurama; South Park
