Which series do you prefer and why?

We all like Star Trek or we wouldn't be here. My question to the crew is this; Which series (TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, or ENT) is your all time favorite and why.

Please, no 'I really dislike XXX', that's another topic for another day.

I'll even go first. This isn't an easy question for me to answer. It's like asking which kind of chocolate ice cream do I prefer.

I'm not old enough to remember the original series in primetime. The reruns didn't begin to grow on me until after the movies started.

TNG is where I became a fan in my own right. I'm the one who choose to watch the episodes and became a Trekker. The movies made me a fan, TNG made me a fanatic.

This is not ot say that I dislike any of the others. In fact if I had to rank where I liked the various series on a scale of 1-10; TNG 10, DS9 9.9, VOY 9.8, ENT (especially season 4 and any episode that didn't feature the temporal cold war) 9.7, TOS remastered 9.6, TOS 9.5, TAS never have seen an episode

I had bought a new Zenith 20" color TV when the original series was still playing on TV. I started watching the Star Trek Classic series because of the color. The coloring was bright and nothing like anything else on TV. Of course I got hooked. I was a Captain Kirk fan. I must admit that I really fell in love with the Star Trek Classic movies with Kirk and crew. That will always be my favorite. Even to this day, when a Star Trek Classic movie is playing on TV I have to sit down and watch it.

The second best Trek for me was the Next Gen. It was well written. That's about all. The rest wasn't my cup of tea.

My favorite series is Star Trek: The Next Generation. I love the characters, the intelligent storylines, the way they stuck to Gene Roddenberry's view of our future. While I watched the other series off and on, nothing held my attention or alligience like Next Gen.

My personal favorite is Voyager. It is an exploration of the unknown, true to Star Trek show very simular to the oringinal Trek, but (with modern technology) more true too life. I watched TOS with my Dad as a child and just loved it, but I dildn't become a true fan until the movies. I look back at TOS and some times laugh at the "special effects". Now don't get me wrong. I love TOS (it was the first TV I ever saw in color) and what they did for the time and what they had to work with was ground breaking. But lets face it, it just does not stand up against today's technology, nor should it have too. Comparing TOS with any of the others, including the oringinal movie, is like comparing apples and oranges. They are just not the same. I love the new frountiers that Voyager explored, including the halo deck. I know, the new civilizations started to look all the same after awhile, but they did throw in just enough "new" or different to keep me watching and loving it. My second favorite would be TNG. It was true Trek too, but I guess it's the female captain the puts Voyager on top for me.

TOS and DSN because of the greater emphasis on the characters and what seemed (to me at least) a more realistic/balanced view of the ST universe.

I will always love the original TV series because I'm old. LOL Loved the classic movies too.
