In Candescium, Stev's mission on behalf of October was blown, causing his eventual rescue by the Phoenix. In Blindsided, Stev and LCDR Seabrook find it a tad suspicious that the Jirzzaque know exactly where and how to take down an Excelsior Class Starship.
Stev thinks that someone is handing out Fleet secrets. Could this unnamed person be the murderer?
Great idea! Although it's been awhile, I made mention of corruption within the fleet way back in "F Is For Flying Cloud". I can't imagine poor Missy being involved with it tho.
My take so far is that there is a known threat who dropped off the grid about 18 months back. This threat is now onboard masquerading as one of the crew. Poor Meliisa found out and oh well.
I'll have to look at "FiFC" and see if I can tie that in.
I think Melissa Wells is not the sweet innocent woman we think she is. I've heard rumors of some gambling aboard ship that lead to some out-and-out threats involving Wells. We started to look into the matter and Wells ended up murdered. Maybe there was more than gambling that was going on with our dear departed.
Are we talking something ship-wide involving all departments? Is it connected to something wider like the fleet, or the Federation in general? BTW...what were they supposedly gambling on? I've got to admit I like this version of S&O's much better! I remember the old days of typing it up, mailing it in (or sometimes just driving over to Lakeside and dropping it off as the case may be) and waiting for the next newsletter. This is practically instantaneous! Sorry for waxing nostalgic :)
The specific leaks that have concerned Stev are the fact that his was orginally assigned the mission of retreiving the Candescium and his mission was blown from the outset. Being an agent (unconfirmed 8-) ) for October, Stev is not used to having any of his missions compromised.
Stev aslo found it highly suspicious that the Jirrzaque had detailed knowledge on how to take down an Excelsior class starship as quickly as they did. They HAD to have inside information. I'd have to say that this leak, while having a source onboard the Phoenix, is more wide ranging. Stev was not a part of the Phoenix's crew when his mission was blown.
If you re-read my Candescium story you'll see that Stev's controlers are onboard Flying Cloud. The leak might be limited to the Fleet level.
This is very troubling to say the least. I've worked with Melissa on occasion and never saw a so-called "dark" side to her personality. Certainly, it could be said that someone who intentionally saw exercise, vollyball, bowling and boxing matches as "fun" things to do could be termed "dark" but that might justs be my opinion!! But to find the poor girl has been murdered in such a heinous way is very frightening considering that whoever did this is now walking among us wearing a normal face and interacting with us on a daily basis. I worry about Stev's questions of his mission be sabotagued prior to his arrival on our vessel and also the questions TE is raising about Melissa's supposed innocence. This has certainly peaked my curiosity and I plan on having a nice sit down with Soen, T'Ami, Riley and a few other pals onboard to see what we can do to delve into this terrible situation.
